Bosch Projects has been appointed to repair a shipping facility at the port of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This particular repair is a slipway cradle system which was built over 71 years ago. The cradle use to accommodate vessels that had a capacity of 1200 tons, but due to wear and tear, aging of infrastructure and lack of maintenance, it was de-rated and could only take vessels that had a capacity of 600 tons. Bosch Projects have been given the opportunity to refurbish the structural elements of the system back to the designed capacity of 1200 tons. This will then enable larger vessels to be docked for maintenance on the slipway.
